Update: Problem solved - there was a wrong time on my test server

Hi guys, i have uploaded my application to my test environment. It works fine, but i can't see any kind of flash messages. I changed the session driver from "cookie" to "file"
and the session files will be created in the "/tmp" directory. I checked also the session driver "db" and i can see the records
in the database.
On my local environment it works fine without any problems.
Local Environment:
* Mac OS X 10.7.4
* MAMP PRO
* PHP 5.3.6
* mySQL 5.5.9
Test Environment => http://bellatrix.pegasusnetworks.de/info.php I have checked the Session part and both ENV have the same settings.
I don't know, whats going wrong.

I honestly haven't got a clue. I can't think of anything environment dependent that would make flash message not work, other then cookie issues. But you've checked that, and confirmed the session data is stored correctly.

Hi, i tested a bit again.
If i remove/deactivate the \Response:redirect(), it works fine. You can see it here: http://bellatrix.pegasusnetworks.de/tutorialcontrol/public/users/login_without Test it with some test user data and you will see the flash message. Controller is the following:

_COOKIE["plushNoTopMenu"]
_COOKIE["SQLiteManager_currentLangue"]

I just tried http://bellatrix.pegasusnetworks.de/tutorialcontrol/public/users/login from here, and I see a message pop up (account locked) after I try to login. Looks fine to me. I'm using FF 15. Are you testing with IE by any chance? Some versions have the nasty habbit of stopping to parse the HTTP header when a "Location:" is detected. If the session cookie appears after that, you lose the cookie. This can be a problem if:
- you store your data in the session cookie (data is lost)
- it's the first request of a session (you lose the initial session cookie, and therefor the entire session) If this is the case you can try to use a 'refresh' redirect instead, which is a bit slower (as it has to fetch the html) but more reliable. None of the cookies you mention are familiar to me, I don't think they are relevant.

Good morning, thanks for the answer. I have test it now with the following: * FF 15.0.1 => OK
* Safari 6.0 => NOK
* Chrome 22 => NOK * IE => nothing works in IE :-D

But it's strange, i tested the same with my local web server and it works with all browsers (Safari, FF, Chrome). Sessions are stored currently in the database in the test environment.
Hmmm..... Update: I tested it with the refresh like

\Response::redirect('users/login_refresh', 'refresh');

Redirect works, but shown nothing in Chrome... but only in the live environment...

Maybe something in the server config? Or a caching issue somewhere? Can you analyze the traffic between server and client (like FF can with live headers) to see if the server does sent you the session cookie at all?

How come you've got multiple cookies in the header? Did you start on something < v1.2, and upgraded to v1.3 or v1.4? If so, did you also upgrade your index.php? If you didn't do that, you'll have an Event class in your index.php that does not belong there, and can cause all kinds of misery, including multiple session cookies.

Hi, i think that i'm using 1.2.1 but tested a bit with 1.3.
After some problems i changed the core directory back to 1.2.1. Maybe i forgot to change the index.php. Here the index.php: https://github.com/webstone/TutorialControl/blob/master/public/index.php

That index file looks ok, no Event class call in there. Which leaves me puzzled as to where the extra cookie entries come from. Fuel updates the session in a shutdown event, which is triggered only once, at the end of the request. What problems did you have? 1.3 is by far more stable then 1.2.1...

Good to hear, that the index.php is "clean".
I had problems with the Template Package in 1.3.
Got always some Error, i tried to fix it (something to the after controller and the response).
I have to report an issue but with 1.2.1 its currently working fine for me. I think i should upload 1.3 again to the webserver and add the Messages Package only to it to test the functionality. Give me a hour and i will have running 1.3 online.

Marcus, I did some analysis on the links you have, and noticed something odd. I did a request at 14:09 local time (I'm at GMT+1). The response header on the set_message link says:
- Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2012 10:09:35 GMT
- Set-Cookie: fuelcid=cM8xLdFxSPa_t7K_czwyoXWRan-<cut>Tue, 02-Oct-2012 12:09:35 GMT; path=/ So a session expiry server-side of two hours. But look at the time I requested this page, and the expiry on your session cookie? This seriously looks like the time on your server is seriously off, or your server or Fuel set in the wrong timezone, because the cookie arrives here already expired. I think you've hit a bug in FF that doesn't expire cookies it receives, while Chrome does do it correctly.

Hi, in the config.php are the default values for time settings

Update: you're right, the time from the server was incorrect.
I have activate now the ntpd and ntp-client on the test environment and with the command "date" i got now the following:

Tue Oct  2 15:29:49 CEST 2012

Lets check again Update 2: IT WORKS!
