RSS Package?
  • My client is asking for an RSS Feed of his site News. Does anyone even read RSS feeds still? Seems so 2000 to me. I could be wrong.

Anyway before I start putting something together I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the
RSS packages out there and which one they liked.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Yes, on a daily basis, for info feeds (I use it to keep an eye on change or commit log feeds, vendor end-of-life notice feeds, etc) it's still a very good solution.

Generating an RSS feed is very simple, it's just an XML structure, not sure you even need a package for that. Just construct the correct array structure, call Format::to_xml() and you're almost done?
  • When Googling RSS Fuel PHP Package I noticed a few were out there.  Just figured why re-invent the wheel.   I have not written an RSS feed in a very long time (7-8 years), so I have to go back to see the specs etc.

Hey wait...   Isn't this one yours?  https://github.com/WanWizard/fuel-simplepie

And I saw this one:   https://github.com/Baldinof/fuelphp-feeds

Mine is an RSS client, so for reading feeds, not for creating ones. I don't have experience with the other one.
