Many thanks to Thomas Edwards, WanWizard && Mitchell,
I looked at all the suggestions and eventually decided to go with GoDaddy.com mostly because:
1. it was within my budget
2. they already register a few domains
3. most of all the monthly introductory special offer.
4. and having USA, Europe and Asia-Pacific linked servers.
Foolishly I chose to renew a domain which was registered with another hosting
company and in my ignorance transferred registration
That is when the frustration started, Godaddy opened my hosting account but was
not allowed to change the DNS settings until approved by the previous registrar.
So back to the original registrar and was informed that they had transferred the
account to Tucows and no longer had access to the DNS settings.
It takes Tucows about a week to transfer the account and overall about two weeks
for the site to become active.
Lesson to be learnt is to ensure that the DNS is pointed to the new hosting company before transferring.
So here is the new site with PHP 5.36

One thing I have learnt about hosting companies is that they all suck.
However, Heart Internet haven't completely screwed up on me yet. http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/
GoDaddy support PHP 5.3 on shared accounts too. http://www.godaddy.com/
I'm halfway between using eUKhost http://www.eukhost.com/ with a VPS (£25/month) and a Rackspace Cloud Server (£7.50/month). The former comes with cPanel, the latter does not, but I sure have learnt a lot!
I do business with Leaseweb (http://www.leaseweb.com), and I'm very happy with their service. They are a very big player, with datacenters in Europe and the US. I only have dedicated servers, but I know they do cloud hosting and web hosting too...
I've been very happy with ServInt. They have managed VPS as well as dedicated servers in a variety of levels. More importantly, they provide great 24/7 email and phone support.
