Hello,
I have been configuring my apache with :

Alias /appli/ "C:/Users/Olivier/Documents/Developpement/appli/web/public/index.php/"

<Directory "C:/Users/Olivier/Documents/Developpement/appli/web/public/">
    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
    AllowOverride all
        Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
</Directory>

And in my config file :

'base_url'  => '/appli/',
'index_file'  => false

When i get to my web page : [url=http://localhost:81/appli/users/]http://localhost:81/appli/users/[/url] the page loads but i get a 404 on the css :
"NetworkError: 404 Not Found - [url=http://localhost:81/appli/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848"]http://localhost:81/appli/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848"[/url]
The assets are loaded in the template with :

Asset::css('bootstrap.css');

If I change my alias from :

Alias /appli/ "C:/Users/Olivier/Documents/Developpement/appli/web/public/index.php/"

to

Alias /appli/ "C:/Users/Olivier/Documents/Developpement/appli/web/public/"

I can access my page on [url=http://localhost:81/appli/index.php/users/,]http://localhost:81/appli/index.php/users/,[/url] it loads the page and the css but i have the index.php in the url...
How could I change my config to remove the index.php from the url ? The problem is that assets are loaded from [url=http://localhost:81/appli/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848]http://localhost:81/appli/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848[/url] which in fact point to [url=http://localhost:81/appli/public/index.php/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848]http://localhost:81/appli/public/index.php/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848[/url] with the alias I defined... Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks

I managed to get it working with the following configuration : Root htaccess :

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine on

    RewriteBase /appli/public

    RewriteRule ^(/)?$ index.php/$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %&#123;REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %&#123;REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

Public htaccess :

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine on

    RewriteCond %&#123;REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %&#123;REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
</IfModule>

In config file :

'base_url'  => '/appli/',
'index_file'  => false

And finally in the asset config file :

'url' => Config::get('base_url').'public/'

It probably has something to do with that alias, because it points to your index.php, but assets don't run through index.php, they have to be accessed directly. [url=http://localhost:81/appli/public/index.php/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848]http://localhost:81/appli/public/index.php/assets/css/bootstrap.css?1330722848[/url] will try to load an assets controllers and find a css method, which is most likely the cause of the 404...

Yes I agree on the problem, but I'm sure we could find away to remove the index.php and have our assets works, maybe if we use something else than alias, any idea ?

As documented, you use mod_rewrite to remove the index.php from the URL. An .htaccess file that will do this by default on most setups is included in the download.
