mysql field type

    why json data type not available in mysqli connection file?
    i add : 'json'                      => array('type' => 'string'),
    in the end of core/classes/database/mysqli/connection.php => datatype function
    it work for now in my code generator.
    Is there a better way for this type of data?

    I can only assume: because it didn't exist 8 years ago when that file was ported from the Kohana framework.

    I'll add the update to my todo list, I'm pretty sure the other drivers were never correctly covered too...
