How do I add an error message for custom callbacks using the Validation class?

Thanks - but what name do I use? I called the callback 'email_check' but naming the '$val->set_message('email_check', 'Email error');' doesn't work? It returns: Validation rule Controller_Sign:email_check failed for Email address

Works fine for me in 1.1 branch. Which version are you using?

That's odd I'm using 1.1 too.

It returns: Validation rule Controller_Sign:email_check failed for Email address

Short names only work for extensions of the Validation class, otherwise the rule key needs to include the classname as shown in this error: 'Controller_Sign:email_check'.
